REVID.C Gustav Willeit

From the artist:

Art belongs to those who know how to observe. And those who can observe can find it everywhere. In nature, in cities, even in mankind. Above all, art can be found in the light. A light that blurs and that results in unexpected combinations of situations according to the rules that are dictated by chance. And here, in this series Revid.C , the “object city” and the “object architecture” find a bright suspension, a still time that becomes something else: an unlimited space to break the uniformity of modern societies.

Monumental Cardboard Bridges Float in the Sky in Temporary Installations by Olivier Grossetête

Temporarily seen hovering above small European towns or balancing on a river in floating canoes are elaborate bridges designed to be constructed and demolished in a matter of days. The ongoing work of Olivier Grossetête, the cardboard-and-tape pieces are entirely hand-built by the French artist and local residents.

image

Each ephemeral installation, which Grossetête refers to as “utopian building(s), temporary and useless,” appears for only a day or two before it’s taken down and the public is asked to stomp on and destroy the cardboard. “This is an integral part of the project,” the artist says in a statement. “This symbolic moment is fun.” While they’re on display, the architectural works are often tethered between hot air balloons and existing buildings, which makes them appear dream-like as they float above the urban landscape.

Raung

Lava and ash billow out of Raung, one of the most active volcanoes on the island of Java in Indonesia. Raung towers more than 10,000 feet above sea level and was captured here during a powerful eruption in 2015 with a short-wave infrared satellite camera. The ash produced during this activity forced the closure of numerous airports on the island.

Castle in the Cloud Adam Bulley

From the artist:

Epic conditions last night from Arthur’s Seat.

From my kitchen window I could see that the fog had set in for the evening so it was just a matter of choosing where to go from a long list of locations that would have worked well. I had visualised a shot of Edinburgh Castle surrounded by the haar for years so I headed to Salisbury Crags in the hope that it would be high enough to get above the fog and view the Castle. Arriving I initially thought that the visability was too low, but I decided to walk up anyway. After a couple of minutes of walking I suddenly saw the Castle standing proud in a sea of clouds.

Blue Haze: Beautiful Desert Photographs By Mariyan Atanasov

From the artist:

The project Blue Haze is from the Sahara desert and more specifically Merzouga, Morocco. I couldn’t have a chance to travel abroad this year because of the COVID and the idea of this project was born while I was checking my photo archive – those pictures are from my trip to that destination 2 years ago.

Public Spaces and Urban Areas: 12 Squares Viewed from Above

Some of the most characteristic features of city squares are related to the presence of people in the space and the purposes they are given, such as places for socializing, sports, tourism, and demonstrations. These different uses, often not foreseen in the project, are closely associated with the ground level, where people can walk around and experience the space.
